ZARbet mobile app: what is published, what is not, and how to install it

Is there a ZARbet app and where does it come from

Yes, on two platforms, and the download route is different for each. For Android there is no Google Play listing — the APK is downloaded from the operator's own page at sports.zarbet.co.za/android, which walks you through enabling installs from unknown sources; the Android build is credited to a developer called Apollo on that page. For iPhone there is a live App Store listing at apps.apple.com/za/app/zarbet/id6746530418, so the iOS route is the ordinary one. Neither the operator nor any review source we checked publishes a version number for either build, and the two affiliate reviews that do quote a file size disagree with each other on both platforms — Android is listed as 4.5 MB by one and around 15 MB by the other. Because no operator-published figure exists, we print both numbers in the table below instead of picking one.

Every cell below comes from a named source. Where two sources give different numbers for the same field, both numbers are printed with the source attached — neither of those sites is the operator or the app store, so neither figure is authoritative. "Not published" means exactly that: nobody states it, so treat any site that gives you a precise number for that field as guessing.

Installing the ZARbet APK on Android

The install is a sideload: you download the file from the operator's Android page, allow your browser to install packages, then open the file. The checks in steps 6 to 8 are the part most guides skip, and they are the only thing standing between you and a repackaged clone.

1. Open sports.zarbet.co.za/android in Chrome on the phone you will bet from, not on a desktop.
2. Tap the Android download link on that page and let the APK finish downloading before you touch it.
3. Open Settings → Apps → Chrome (or your browser) → Install unknown apps, and turn the permission on for that browser only.
4. Open the downloaded file from your notification shade or from Files → Downloads.
5. Read the permission list Android shows before you tap Install; a sportsbook needs storage and network, and a request for SMS or contacts is a reason to stop.
6. Check the file size against the table above: the two published figures are 4.5 MB and about 15 MB, so a 60 MB or 300 KB file did not come from the operator.
7. Confirm the app name and developer after install — the Android build is credited to Apollo on the operator's page.
8. Go back into Settings and switch "Install unknown apps" off for your browser once the install finishes.
9. Log in and check the balance and bet history match what you see in the browser; if they do not, you are in a different account or a different app.

Installing on iPhone and iPad

There is a real App Store listing, so no sideloading and no configuration profiles are involved. If your device is too old for the listing's minimum iOS, the fallback is a home screen shortcut to the mobile site — that is a bookmark, not an app, and it gets no push notifications.

1. Open apps.apple.com/za/app/zarbet/id6746530418 or search the South African App Store for ZARbet.
2. Check the listing's own "Requires iOS" line before installing — published sources disagree, quoting 13.0+ and 15.1 or later, and the listing is the only figure that counts.
3. Confirm the seller name on the listing page rather than relying on the icon.
4. Tap Get and authorise with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple ID password.
5. Budget 15 MB to 27.7 MB of free space, depending on which published size figure holds for the current build.
6. Open the app and sign in with your existing ZARbet credentials; installing the app does not create an account.
7. If your iPhone is below the listing's minimum iOS, open sports.zarbet.co.za in Safari, tap Share → Add to Home Screen, and use that shortcut instead.

Huawei and other devices without Google services

This matters in South Africa because a real share of Android handsets in use — Huawei models from the P40 generation onward — ship without Google Mobile Services. That is not a problem here: the Android build is not distributed through Google Play in the first place, so the APK route is the normal route rather than a workaround. No AppGallery listing for ZARbet is documented in any source we checked, so do not go looking for one and do not install a lookalike you find there.

1. Open sports.zarbet.co.za/android in the Huawei Browser on the device itself.
2. Confirm your Huawei runs Android 5.0 or higher — that is the only minimum OS figure both published sources agree on.
3. Download the APK from that page and wait for it to complete.
4. Allow installs from the browser when Huawei prompts, or set it manually under Settings → Security → Install apps from external sources.
5. Tap the downloaded APK and review the permission list before confirming.
6. Skip AppGallery searches for ZARbet — no AppGallery listing is documented, and anything with the name there is unverified.
7. Revoke the external-install permission for the browser after the app opens.
8. Use Safari-style fallback if the APK will not install: open sports.zarbet.co.za in the browser and add it to your home screen.

Data-free access: what is actually documented

No zero-rated or data-free version of ZARbet is documented in any source we checked, on any South African network. Some local operators arrange zero-rating with Vodacom, MTN, Telkom or Cell C so that their domain does not draw from your bundle; for ZARbet there is no such arrangement published, no data-free domain listed and no mention of one on the operator's Android page. Assume every megabyte you use in the app is billed to your bundle or airtime.

That makes the download size question practical rather than academic. The published Android figures are 4.5 MB and about 15 MB; on iOS they are 15 MB and about 27.7 MB. Install over Wi-Fi if you have it, because on a prepaid bundle the wider of those two iOS figures is roughly double the narrower one.

Running costs are separate from the install. Live odds pages refresh continuously and any in-play video eats far more than the app itself, so if your data is metered, the app being installed does not save you anything — it only removes the repeated page loads a browser session makes. If a site tells you ZARbet has a data-free app, ask it to name the network and the zero-rated domain. Neither exists in the public record.

App versus mobile browser, field by field

Known problems and what actually fixes them

The most common Android failure is a stale build. Because the APK is not distributed through Google Play, nothing updates it for you — if the app stops loading odds or throws you back to a login screen after weeks of working, delete it, re-download from sports.zarbet.co.za/android and install again. Do not clear data first if you have not confirmed your login works in a browser, because you will then be troubleshooting two problems at once.

On iPhone, most install failures are the minimum-OS mismatch.
